Coolest Buys of Recent Times
By Hannah Mae Webster

Every time try to enforce some kind of shopping ban on myself it's as if everything I've ever dreamt of suddenly gets thrown at me, and who am I to crush my own dreams? I have always been a collector and have acquired an interesting melange of pieces that trigger my excitement - this repeatedly causes headaches in terms of storage and organisation. Instead of celebrating my glorious finds in solitude, I have curated a list featuring my best buys of recent times.

As my obsession with interesting shoes deepens, I find myself drawn to beautifully structured designs. I always select my shoes purely for the fun of it, even if that means I have a growing collection of 'anklebreakers'. As someone who has never broken a bone, I pray that my penchant for crazy shoes will not be my downfall!

Jeffrey Campbell studded cross boots

Believe it or not I stumbled across these beauties the one day that I was not actively searching.  Jeffrey Campbell shoes have had my heart for a long time and ever since I got my hands on a pair of spiked suede wedges I have been addicted to the combination of craziness and comfort. The JC platform cross boots have been ingrained in my brain since first sight, so you can imagine my excitement when I randomly found these heelless Lita cross boots. Heelless shoes and boots fascinate me, yet I have never actually desired a pair, I prefer a high wedge instead, but when I purchased these boots I did not fully see the lack of a heel until they arrived. Of course I ran to test them out and to my suprise i was completely oblivious to the fact a whole section of boot was missing, and guess what, I love them. Unlike the heeless shoes I have seen, these are not as severely heelless if that makes sense? Shockingly I feel that I have more chance of breaking an ankle in one of  my stilettos than in these.

Gestuz Wedge boots:
Another random find! I'm obsessed with the shape of these suede boots, as the wedge is rather narrow compared to others in my collection. The geometrically placed studs are a eye-catching addition.

Gaimo wedges
Over the summer I discovered my favourite espadrille wedge brand, Gaimo. I have a few different pairs of ribboned wedges and whilst I have no complaints over their comfort, Gaimo are on a different level. As a handmade Spanish company, Gaimo take impeccable care in the design process to ensure all boxes are sufficiently ticked, from comfort to shape. After purchasing my first pair of v-cut black wedges I fell head over heels, only theoretically of course, and a week later found the same pair in a metallic champagne colour. Both pairs successfully passed my own series of tests: running at speed, standing on one leg, and jumping! From now on, Gaimo will be a permanent fixture in my collection.

Jeffrey Campbell Wedged Boots

More Jeffrey Campbell (not sorry)! I have been searching for boots like these for what feels like an eternity, but the clothing gods finally decided to bless me. I will be wearing these all winter long and pray that I don't have a Kathy Hilton wedged snowboot situation (if you know, you know).

I would consider my jewellery taste to be on the maximalist side of the scale and I truly adore every piece I own. As my collection has developed, I have found myself becoming increasingly selective with every new find. I am entirely satisfied with my collection and any new addition must be at least equal, if not better than the last to make the cut. Therefore over the last couple of months I have only bought a handful of new pieces.

Alexander McQueen leather wrap bracelet
I have admired these bracelets for a while but have always imagined them to be significantly chunkier than they are. As someone with smaller wrists, I tend to have a problem with bracelets and bangles fitting well and didn't have much hope that this one would be different. However, it is the perfect fit and I have worn this every day since it arrived. The hardware works perfectly as the double leather strap isn't too wide, so everything balances out well. The only problem is that I'm now on the hunt for a different colourway.

Robert Lee Morris Studio Crescent Moon Necklace
After reading an interesting piece on crescent moon jewellery about a month ago, I had become enamoured with the symbolism and promptly made it my mission to find a crescent pendant. After spending a week or two searching for the perfect piece, I found that nothing was matching the idea I had in my head. An eBay listing for a Robert Lee Morris Studio necklace popped up and I was instantly drawn in. Whenever I find a new piece, I have a habit of conducting research to educate myself a little more on its origin. Although I am familiar with the name Robert Lee Morris, I admit I had not previously spent the time to learn a little more, so before purchasing I did just that. Once again, my curiosity just adds more to my wish list. Anyway, this necklace by RLM Studio is absolutely divine, it depicts moon phases on a long chain (approx. 24 inches) that sits beautifully.

7 For All Mankind jewelled jeans
As a huge fan of 7 For All Mankind jeans, every time I find a unique pair in my size it's a win. My latest pair are black skinny jeans with jewelled embellishments at the top of each thigh, a fabulous detail that catches the eye. The fit of 7 For All Mankind jeans is superior and each pair is always the perfect length for me. I am 5'6 but often find jeans can be too long. It's like they were made for me!

BCBG Maxaxria Corset Long T-shirt Coverup
Everything about this t-shirt coverup dress grabbed my attention! The detailed corset illustration is a striking feature on the lightweight material and the length is just perfect. I plan to wear this as a bikini coverup as it is so uniquely chic.

Rare London High Low Dress
I am an absolute sucker for a high-low dress and this one has everything. The straight neckline, the waist cut-outs, and the zipper placement create the most flattering silhouette, and the floaty material is a bonus. This has been one of my go-to dresses this summer.

Alexander Wang Rocco Bag

I have had my heart set on this bag for a while and have finally found one that ticks my boxes. The Rocco bag feels like a necessary newcomer in my collection. The only worrying part is how much this bag weighs and my lack of arm muscles, but I guess this will replace my daily workout (all lies, I haven't worked out a day in my life). Anyway, all this Rocco bag needs is a little conditioning as the straps are feeling a little dried out, so hopefully once my cobbler revives it, we will take our maiden voyage.

As a great appreciator of interior design, I take great pride in finding the coolest objects and décor. Recently I have tasked myself with turning one of my walls into a little gallery-style setup where I can display some of my wall art that has been sitting around for far too long. Whilst organising the initial setup I have spotted a few interesting extras.

Snake Porthole Mirror
Anything snake related has a special place in my heart, whether that be my large collection of snake jewellery or random trinkets. This mirror captured my attention and it reminded me of a porthole. A porthole from a ship taken over by serpents, that is.

Narrow Ornate Gold Mirror
This divine mirror has an wonderful  shape, almost reminiscent of cathedral architecture to me and it's shape made it an easy addition to my wall, (even if I did drop and break a frame in the process...)

As a literature lover, I have found myself slightly neglecting my books lately and not dedicating enough time to truly explore different work. Over the summer I have tried to change that and read some of the novels I have been putting off and purchased some different titles along the way.

Hot Milk by Deborah Levy, 2017
I am only half way through this so will hold my full judgement for now, but I did watch the new movie adaption. Whilst the movie had a bizarre, almost suffocating atmosphere, it had mesmerizing qualities. When the credits rolled, I found myself taking a second to absorb it and my appreciation grew as I pondered. So far the book has successfully captured my attention and has made for a atmospheric summer read.

Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu, 1872
I devoured this novella in a few short sittings and I have to say this may become a favourite over time. The gothic elements and disquieting atmosphere made for an interesting read. Although different to my expectation, this slow paced tale is enticing and calls your name after each sitting.

Daphne and The Golden Chord CD

As you may know, I am a loyal fan of Daphne Guinness and feel a deep connection to her music. I have been completing my collection recently with the addition of her CDs and my latest one is Daphne and The Golden Chord, my favourite album along with Optimist in Black. I listen to Daphne's music daily and have a deep respect for her craft. Daphne and The Golden Chord transports me to a mystical world filled with rock, reflection, and rebellion, everything Daphne puts her armoured hand to is a hypnotic masterpiece!

Faded Glamour by Pearl Lowe, photography by Amy Neunsinger.

This glorious book on interiors really spoke to me. Since childhood, I have been OBSESSED with striking interior design and minimalism never really did it for me. Dark, decadent rooms with an edge totally mesmerise me and this book presents the most beautiful selection of truly unforgettable spaces.
